So much happening, there’s no time to blog. Three worker bees arrived on Thursday and Friday and helped get the front garden ready for bed on an early Saturday morning, even though this last week it has been 32 degrees and doesn’t feel like it’s time to get the garden ready for fall and winter [...]

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

Oh me, oh my. Last year I was given a beautiful yellow rosebush for 963 by the mother of one of my Very Good Friends, with instructions on how to wrap it so it would survive the winter. Not having dealt with roses very much, I planted it, admired the yellow roses that bloomed profusely [...]

963 Treat
Posted in Current Affairs, Food and Drink, Friends on December 13, 2010 |
Some of us who shall remain nameless are big on snacks and treats here at 963 (yes, you Red). Someone else (you know who you are) sent us Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee a couple of weeks ago for a treat. Mmmmm, what a treat. Mine’s gone already, but I know where The Other One is [...]
How Do You Like Them Apples?

Our neighbors, God love ‘em, brought over a huge grocery bag of apples fresh from their tree, to follow the huge grocery bag of cherries fresh from their tree last month. So far the only thing I’ve managed to make is applesauce, but I think pie is looming on the horizon.

Two of the Fab 4 came to visit 963 for the first time this last weekend. The fun included food and drink, Settlers, Playstation, Red, and good gab sessions. And to celebrate, we had high tea, because what in this world is better than plates full of snacks and friends to share it with?
A little while ago I announced a Goal! of trying to get a guestroom gussied up for friends and family by the last week of May. But it’s just not going to happen. There’s too much to do in the garden before the season moves outdoors entirely. And if the guestrooms are all prettied up, [...]
An Addition to 963

Yesterday we went to the Animal Health Technician building and picked up our new member of 963, the very dignified Red. He's 7 years old already, and mellow as can be. We haven't even heard him bark yet. At all. At anything. Cats, other dogs, people, bikes, or cars. He likes lots of love and [...]
Bzzzzzz

Three family workerbees have been helping out in the yard all weekend and the spring pruning debris is piling up. One tree that hasn't been looked after for years is breathing much easier with all its arteries unclogged. And the vine – just a 15 foot stretch of it – is breathing easier too now [...]
Staying cozy
Posted in Current Affairs, Friends on January 6, 2010 |
J came to visit for a couple of days (hooray!), and while she was here, we took all the wood that we'd gathered from the backyard fire pit when we moved in and had our first fire at 963. In the fireplace, where it belongs.
