The Montgomeries are back for the fall. (Montgomery the First visited the Greasy Spoon a lot last winter. The diner isn’t open yet but a Montgomery is camping out in the yard to be first in line.
The distressing part? Early Montgomery flew right into the window. I was sitting at the kitchen table looking out at the garden and talking on the phone, saw him fly out of the chestnut tree toward me and thought, pull up, pull UP PULL UP!!!!
Thunk.
Poor Montgomery caught his reflection at the last second I think so managed to recover from his hit and wavered off to another tree. But still. Now I’m wondering how often the birds are trying to fly through the house when we’re not here to watch them.
